Yet in the space of a few years he became one of the most renowned, respect3ed and trusted safety kayakers, rafting guides and expedition leaders on the African continent. Hendri could and would talk to anyone. He was chivalrous and a true gentleman. He also had a brilliantly dry sense of humour and could make people lau7gh and relax in the direst of situations; an invaluable skill to have at such times…

His adventures have enriched the lives of countless people, including mine.
